WINTER WORKOUTS (2009-2010)
Coach Muzio will run softball Winter
Workouts for grades 4 - 8, starting the first week in January and
running right up until travel tryouts, in March. There will be two
workouts per week, one night at the
Somerville School gym and another night at In The Swing, in
Waldwick.
5th and 6th graders - and committed 4th
graders will be accepted with this group - will be at In The Swing
on Mondays, either 4 to 5 or 5 to 6 (we're dividing into two
groups at ATS, so we can make more efficient use of our time) and at the
Somerville gym
on Wednesdays, 5 to 7.
7th & 8th graders will be in the
Somerville gym
on Tuesdays, 5 to 7 and at In The Swing
on Thursdays, either 4 to 5 or 5 to 6.
The Somerville nights will focus on
throwing, defense and game situations. We will stress proper technique
and follow with plenty of repetitions to reinforce the teaching.
The In The Swing nights will be devoted
to hitting. Again, we'll teach proper mechanics, as well as offer
drills designed to instill speed, strength and
muscle memory into
your swing. Strength
training will be part of both nights.
The dates are January 4 to
March 11, taking off the February school break week. Barring any
snow days, there
are 18 sessions for each group. The cost is $175. These are invaluable
sessions for player development and we have a great time along the
way.
Space is limited, so please sign up
quickly. If one group fills up, you may be offered a spot with the
other group, if there are openings. Sign ups are now open in Community
Pass. Questions may be directed to Coach Muzio at
muzrd@optonline.net
The spring travel season runs from tryouts (practices start immediately after) to Memorial Day weekend. Summer travel season runs from Memorial Day to the end of July. While a full commitment is required for each season, these are two separate commitments and one does not bind you to the other. More information on game & practice schedules, as well as summer travel plans will be announced in the coming months. However, some travel coaches may not be named until March, when we have a clearer idea of who is playing on what team. Please remember that travel players must register and play rec! You must also register for travel tryouts. Registration for both is now open in Community Pass. Make sure you register before December 31 to avoid a $50 late fee!
