RBSA Summer Recreational Softball
Serious Softball, Serious Fun!
There will be no softball on Monday, July 4th and Tuesday, July 5th to allow for clean up from the fireworks.
Summer Recreation Softball will resume Wednesday, July 6. Monday, July 4th and Tuesday, July 5th may be made up any day of operation through August 5.

Sign ups are now underway for the RBSA’s Summer Rec Softball! This program has grown in popularity each year and 2011 promises to be another fun-packed season in the sun!
Develop and sharpen your skills while having fun! Enjoy the great Summer Rec Softball activities – challenging drills, exciting contests with prizes, pick up games, hitting in the batting cage, fielding towering fly balls from the “fly ball machine”, home run derby, wild games of running bases and “cheese” (what IS that?!) and yes, the occasional water balloon!!
Work with accomplished college and high school players and do it in a friendly environment that allows players of all ages and skill levels to progress comfortably. RBSA Summer Recreational Softball is open to girls going into 1st grade through high school. Drills, contests and games can be specialized for all ages, allowing for plenty of small group and individual attention, as well as fun filled whole group activities! In fact, part of what makes SRS a special experience for many are the friendships and rapport that develop between girls of all ages.
RBSA Summer Rec Softball is run by Gary Muzio, long-time RBSA Travel Softball Coach. He will again be assisted by some of his former players, who now play college softball or are members of the Ridgewood High School Varsity team. This is a fine group of ladies, not only talented but warm, friendly and great role models for our young players.
We are also very proud to announce our pitching coach this summer will be Ali Vagianos, one of the most successful pitchers in Ridgewood High School’s softball history! Ali pitched Ridgewood to State Sectional Championships and all the way to the NJ State Championship Game, earning many All League and All County honors along the way. And more often than not, she was the smallest player on the field! Ali is a perfect example of what can be accomplished with great technique, smarts and desire. Young pitchers will love working with and learning from Ali Vagianos, a great pitcher and even better person!
By popular demand, we will once again offer private lessons for other aspects of the game, as well - hitting, fielding (any position), base running, throwing - you name it! These will be intensive 30 minute training sessions, taught by the staff member of your choice working exclusively with the player. These sessions will involve a high number of repetitions and running instructional commentary by your coach, who will augment their teaching with demonstration, as they correct and encourage. These sessions have proven to be very popular. They are highly beneficial to all talent levels, from beginners to the most experienced travel players.
Summer Rec Softball begins on Monday, June 27, at Veteran’s Field, SE end and runs through Friday, August 5. Sign up for individual weeks or receive a discount by signing up for five or all six weeks! There are two sessions per day, 10 to 12 and 1 to 3. One sign up fee entitles you to attend one or both sessions each day.
Fees: $75 per week, $350 for five weeks, $400 for all six weeks! Lunch hour supervision is available for $5 per day. Private lessons, pitching, hitting or fielding are available for $25 per 30-minute session. Girls who sign up for at least one week of Summer Rec are eligible to take private lessons throughout all six weeks.
So if you’re a travel player, looking for fielding work or batting practice any day of the season, a casual player just looking for games and some fun while developing your skills or a beginner, who’d like to learn how to play the game, RBSA Summer Recreational Softball is perfect for you!
