REGISTRATION
Registration for RBSA programs is achieved via an
online registration process through the Village’s Community Pass
Online Registration System:
Community Pass
Registrations received after the December 31 deadline (if space is still
available in your particular program) are subject to an additional
$75 late fee. PLEASE REGISTER ON TIME! Failure to do so subjects
our programs to potentially overcrowded teams; an insufficient number of
coaches, equipment and uniform shortages; and may result in a player having to
be wait-listed until space becomes available.
PROGRAMS AND PROGRAM FEES
Each program run by the RBSA
is self-sustaining. Fees are set to cover costs. The RBSA obtains additional
revenue to fund other expenses such as field improvements and general overhead
through sponsors and/or fund raising efforts. For detailed program description
and fees click on

Additional Programs
(at additional cost):
Summer Recreational Games: This program in late June-July is available to
age 8-13 year old players, but is more advanced than regular season. Although
sessions are more advanced, they are informal and focused on instruction.
Registration information will be communicated during the Spring.
Travel Baseball: The RBSA sponsors teams for 8-18 year old players in
competitive programs sponsored by AABC, Little League and others. This program
is for those players registered and currently playing in our recreational
program, who are seeking a more competitive playing experience. Games are played
in the Spring, Summer and Fall and generally do not interfere with Spring
recreational season play. Tryouts are conducted in the Spring season for each
team. If interested in trying out for a Travel Team, you must register for
Travel Tryouts under Travel Baseball during Registration. There will be
a non-refundable $10 administrative fee for all Travel Tryout registrants to
offset expenses associated with the tryout process..
Travel Softball: The RBSA sponsors teams for players in grades 3-12 in a
more competitive environment. This program is for those players registered and
currently playing in our recreational program, who are seeking a more
competitive playing experience. Games are played in the Spring, Summer and Fall
and generally do not interfere with Spring recreational season play. Tryouts are
conducted in the Spring season for each team. If interested in trying out
for a Travel Team, you must register for Travel Tryouts under Travel Softball
during Registration. There will be a non-refundable $10 administrative
fee for all Travel Tryout registrants to offset expenses associated with the
tryout process.
Special Note To Parents of 5th graders and above--Rec and Travel:
Prior to registering for Baseball or Softball, we ask that you consider the
ramifications of your child playing multiple in-season sports at the same time.
Inevitably the conflicts of playing two spring sports on multiple days per week
will arise, and your child will miss both practices and games of at least one
sport. Missing practices and games is not fair to your child’s teammates or
their volunteer coaches, who have spent time and effort to draft both
recreational and travel teams. For this reason we ask that you give serious
consideration to registering for only one spring sport.

If
your child played last year and you have previously submitted a birth
certificate, you need not submit a new birth certificate. As in prior years, all
programs will be using a GRADE-based system. However, birth certificates are
still required for all program participants. After one registers online,
please send a copy of the child’s birth certificate to the RBSA at P.O. Box 163,
Ridgewood, NJ 07451 (only if one is not already on file). Your online
registration confirmation will indicate if a birth certificate is necessary or
not.
REFUNDS
Refunds (net of registration penalty) will be granted should your child withdraw
prior to the start of seasonal play.
UNIFORMS
For all age levels and
leagues, players keep all components of their uniforms. The baseball uniforms
are based on several themes (e.g., MLB major and minor league professional
teams), while softball uniforms have a Ridgewood theme.

Approximately 2/3 of the annual budget is spent on equipment, field maintenance,
and uniforms. The balance of the budget is spent on administrative expenses such
as printing, postage, league fees, umpires, insurance and other general
expenses, as well as the RBSA scholarships. We also set aside funds each year to
contribute to the Village or to the Board of Education for field improvements.
Recently, the RBSA has helped pay for renovation and repairs at several BOE
fields. Our field improvement projects depend upon your continued support
of our programs and fund-raising activities. In response to parent input, the
RBSA has dedicated itself to improving our programs by expanding and improving
our umpire use; increasing the training of our coaches; providing more
opportunities for play through an increase in the number of travel teams; and
establishing and supporting a growing Summer Recreation program for both
baseball and softball.
SPONSORS
Without the wonderful sponsor support from the community, the fees charged to
players would substantially increase. We ask that you thank the sponsor assigned
to your child's team and that you patronize those community organizations that
have so generously supported the RBSA. If you, or an organization you know would
like to sponsor a team this season, please contact us via the RBSA infoline at
201-612-9864 or email us at info@rbsa.us.
