REGULAR SEASON TEAM DRAFTS

At the higher age levels, teams are determined by drafting players from registration and evaluation lists. Only registered players will be considered in the draft. Parent requests for pairing of players (e.g., to facilitate car pools) can rarely be accommodated. Sibling requests will be honored however. Drafts for baseball and softball will be held in early March. All players will be notified of their teams prior to April. Other key dates can be found on the official RBSA calendar.

BASEBALL DIVISIONS

Kindergarten Instructional Program

This program is for both boys and girls and is designed to teach basic skills. It is held on eight Sunday afternoons beginning April 15 – June 17 (excluding Memorial Day weekend).

1st Grade Baseball

This clinic and game program is designed to advance the instructional basics. This program also provides non-competitive games as a teaching tool for players. It is held on Sunday afternoons and some Friday nights.

Paskalides Baseball

For players in grades 2 & 3, this program is divided by grade level and is designed to teach the basic skills of baseball during games in a non-competitive atmosphere. No records or standings are kept.

Little League (Minors) Baseball

This program provides 10-11 year olds the opportunity to participate in games with an appropriate level of competition, while reinforcing skill development.

Little League (Majors) Baseball

This program provides the more advanced 10-12 year old players the opportunity to play more competitive games while developing more advanced skills.

Bonvarlet Baseball

For players in grades 7-12, this program stresses more advanced development and will be comprised of two divisions: one for younger players and one for older or more advanced players.

Additional Programs (at additional cost):

Summer Recreational Games: This program in late June-July is available to age 8-13 year old players, but is more advanced than regular season. Although sessions are more advanced, they are informal and focused on instruction. Registration information will be communicated during the Spring.

Travel Teams: The RBSA sponsors teams for 8-18 year old players in competitive programs sponsored by AABC, Little League and others. This program is for those players registered and currently playing in our recreational program, who are seeking a more competitive playing experience. Games are played in the Spring, Summer and Fall and generally do not interfere with Spring recreational season play. Tryouts are conducted in the Spring season for each team. If interested in trying out for a Travel Team, you must register for Travel Tryouts under Travel Baseball during Registration. There will be a $10 administrative fee for all Travel Tryout registrants to offset expenses associated with the tryout process.

Over 40 Baseball: Dads and/or coaches interested in playing in an over 40 baseball league based in Bergen County (20 game schedule on Sunday mornings) should contact the RBSA hot line for more information.

UMPIRES

The RBSA uses both youth and carded umpires. We insist that all players, parents and coaches respect the authority of the umpire.
