2009 Summer Baseball

The RBSA is pleased to offer baseball players in the recreational program the opportunity to continue playing baseball into the summer.  Truly your child can now be one of the “boys of summer” by participating in the Summer Recreational Baseball Program. The fee for 2009 is $75.  To register for the Summer Rec Baseball Season, you must register online at www.ridgewoodsports.org  via the Community Pass system. The deadline for registration is:  Friday, June 19th.

The Summer Recreational Baseball Program is open to all boys and girls (currently playing Paskalides 9 recreational baseball or higher) ages 9 (at time of registration) and up, except for those playing on travel teams.  Depending upon player interest and availability of coaches, the Summer Recreational Baseball Program will consist of two leagues:

¨      Little League (9 - 12 year olds)

¨      Bonvarlet League (13 year olds and up)

The leagues will begin play in late June and end the last week of July.

Bonvarlet teams are a combination of players from ages 13 years on up. Bonvarlet games are held on 1 weekday (6pm) and Saturday.

Little League teams are a composed of players ranging in ages 9 to 12 years old. There are 3 games a week.  Games will be on 2 weekdays (6pm) and on Saturdays.  In order to create balanced teams, players will be evenly placed on teams with consideration to age and ability. Current 6th graders will be given consideration for play in Bonvarlet only upon special request. The transition in level of play between Paskalides 9 (no score, coach pitching), Minors & Majors (LL rules, scores kept, playoffs, full time player pitching, walks/strikeouts) and Bonvarlet (60’x90’ full size field) divisions is considerable. The summer league offers an excellent opportunity for players to prepare for this transition by developing their skills in a fun, recreational environment.

A cornerstone to the success of the Summer Recreational Baseball Program are the parents who serve as coaches for the teams. We need your support as volunteer coaches in order to make the program a success. If you are interested in being a coach, please be sure to sign yourself up online as you do for your child.

You can learn more about this program via email at summerbaseball@gmail.com
